In 2004, the Intellectual Property Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKIPD) cooperated with the Guangdong Provincial Intellectual Property Office to launch the "No Fakes Pledge" Scheme in Guangdong Province. In 2011, the Guangdong Intellectual Property Office (GIPO), Copyright Bureau of Guangdong Province (GDCB) and Guangdong Province Administration for Industry and Commerce (GDAIC) jointly announced the launch of the "No Fakes Pledge" Scheme in all 21 cities at the prefectural level in Guangdong Province, as well as Shunde District, Foshan.

In 2008, Guangdong and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region have jointly produced a new Announcement of Public Interest as well as posters and related promotional materials for the "No Fakes Pledge" Scheme to further enhance the publicity of the Scheme.

An exchange activity between the representatives from the merchant associations and the Guangdong cities joining the "No Fakes Pledge" Scheme was held on 27 June 2013.

In 2014, the two sides jointly produced a TV Announcement of Public Interest (API) for the "No Fakes Pledge" Scheme which were then dispatched to 21 prefecture-level cities and Shunde District in Guangdong Province for broadcast. On 22 April 2014, the GDIPO, the HKIPD, the GDCB and the GDAIC jointly organised web interviews cum launching ceremony of the API for "No Fakes Pledge" Scheme on the southcn.com. The API has been broadcast in both Guangdong and Hong Kong on the same day. As at July 2014, "No Fakes Pledge" plaques were awarded to nearly 1000 merchants and enterprises and over 3000 shops in Guangdong Province.
